Application: Chemical Plant
Location: Bayport, Texas
Complete: January 2011
Scope of Services: Engineering
H&K provided detailed design using Cadworx 3D. Laser Scanning was used to collect field dimensions for this 10 level existing facility. This project included the installation of two new reactors into this existing enclosed facility. The Laser Scan data was used to support constructability reviews and definition of demolition needed to lower the 2 new reactors through the roof and down to level 3. These reviews were done using WebEx with the construction team in Bayport and the H&K design team in Baton Rouge. One new reactor was tied into the existing DCS system with the other reactor expected to be tied in at a later date.
Application: Chemical Plant \ Rail Road Loading
Location: Pasadena, Texas
Scope of Services: Engineering & Laser Scanning
Six (6) new Rail Road car loading stations were added to this existing chemical plant facility. Most of the lines were to be placed in Sulfuric Acid service into an existing Rail Road loading system. The additional stations were added along with new piping, pumps and instrumentation. All field work for this was done in one day using Laser Scanning. All other routing was done back in H&K’s Baton Rouge office using the scan data. Model reviews were conducted with the customer using Webex to minimize travel time and expense.
